There’s something about Serena Williams‘ aura and demeanor that everyone loves and on Friday night, she displayed just that in front of a packed crowd at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. With her career hanging on the line, Serena played some clutch tennis and rose from the dead to come back in the match.

Serena had a very good start to the match and was quick to take an early break and have a 5-3 advantage. But out of nowhere, the level of her tennis dropped and her opponent, Ajla Tomljanovic’s level skyrocketed as she won back-to-back games to take the second set 7-5.

The crowd was stunned to see Serena lose the first set given the second set could very well be the last set of her professional career. But Serena wasn’t just done yet. She remained calm and clutched her way into the second set. She started having a good command on the baseline rallies and started winning longer points. Tomljanovic was playing spotless tennis and Serena countered it by going for big winners.

Displaying clutch mentality, Serena Williams comes back into the match

Serena got her opportunity and took the break and was even serving for the set. But the Australian once again played some amazing tennis to break back and eventually took the set into a tie-breaker. Tomljanovic holding serve in a 15-minute long game was the moving point in the set but knowing Serena, one can never count her out.

She played a very good tie-breaker and was clutching on the important rallies. She eventually won the set with a ferocious cross-court winner which sent the crowd wild. Serena staged a comeback into the match and the atmosphere was as if the noise will explode the roof of the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
