Much to his disappointment Tiafoe was unable to go all the way and win the title at Flushing Meadows but the American professional earned himself a lot of supporters after his faithful and passionate performances at the tournament.

Tiafoe managed to reach the semi-final of the US Open before bowing out to eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz. The American received a huge reception from the crowd after his loss. Despite feeling disappointed, Tiafoe vowed to come back to the US Open and make it big in the near future.

Frances Tiafoe has a special connection with the University of Maryland. Whenever he wins a point on the court the American often pumps his right fist in the air. A specific wristband with multiple ‘M’ letters often stands out amongst the various wristbands he wears.

The wristband represents the University of Maryland. However, Tiafoe has never attended any college nor was it in his plans at any point in time. He does have a special connection with Maryland football head coach Mike Locksley and the entire football program. Mike Locksley is sort of a mentor to Tiafoe and he is often seen spending his time on the university campus.
