Daniil Medvedev and Nick Kyrgios

World No.1 Daniil Medvedev has had a tremendous start to his US Open title defense and hasn’t lost a set in the first three rounds. He defeated Wu Yibing in the third round and has set up a mouth-watering clash against Australian showman Nick Kyrgios in the Round of 16. As soon as the draws were out, Medvedev vs Kyrgios was the most highly anticipated match of the tournament.

Kyrgios has been very consistent this season and has risen up the ranks rapidly. He had a decent start to the season but picked up the pace at Wimbledon by making it to his maiden major final. He then won the ATP 500 event in Washington and had a fairly good lead-up to the US Open.

Medvedev and Kyrgios don’t have a very good history. They are both known for their ‘on the face’ attitude and aren’t much loved amongst the fans, especially the New York crowd. Kyrgios and Medvedev both have been booed over the years at Flushing Meadows due to their attitude and are known to be the ‘bad boys’ in tennis.
