“Why is he d***riding Alcaraz hard?” John McEnroe bashed for his biased commentary in the Carlos Alcaraz – Casper Ruud US Open final

John McEnroe and Carlos Alcaraz
A teenage dream became a reality when 19-year-old Carlos Alcaraz rallied past Casper Ruud in the final of the 2022 US Open in four sets 6-4,2-6,7-6(1),6-3 to win his first grand slam title of his career. With this, he became the youngest man to win a major title since Rafael Nadal in 2005 and also is the 7th youngest men’s singles major champion of all-time.
Alcaraz also became the second youngest men’s US Open champion in tennis history. With this triumph, the Spaniard has become the youngest World No.1 of all-time. He currently leads the ATP tour this season in both the most number of matches won and also the most number of titles won.
Needless to say, Alcaraz has been the best player of the season and given his age, it is natural he is being hyped by the media around the world. However, during the final, John McEnroe went a little too far on ESPN’s commentary panel and as a result, received a lot of backlash for his biased comments.
McEnroe was pro-Alcaraz while calling out the match and his slant was very evident. Obviously, Alcaraz, with the way he was playing, was the favorite to win. McEnroe made it too obvious to a point that it was disrespectful towards Ruud. Even when both players were even on sets and the match was hanging in the balance in the third set, McEnroe commentated like Alcaraz was at a very commanding position and would win the match without breaking a sweat.
John McEnroe gets whacked on social media for his biased commentary

Tennis fans who genuinely wanted to enjoy a good match were very upset with McEnroe’s commentary. They called him out on social media and argued that a commentator cannot be so biased towards a particular player or dismiss the other player the way Super Mac did.
