Nick Kyrgios likes to stay in the news for different reasons. Recently he has revealed that he would like to make a return to the Roland Garros next year in a shocking turn of events. Tennis fans all around the world already know that Kyrgios does not like to play on slow clay surfaces and therefore he has skipped the clay season completely for the last few years.

But this time he has revealed that he will be playing at the Roland Garros next year. This will be his first ever French Open featuring in five years. The last time he played at the French Open was back in 2017 when he lost to Kevin Anderson in the second round of the Grand Slam.

However, the reason for his return is bizarre to some extent as the 26-year-old Australian shares how his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi wants to see Paris and therefore he will play at the Roland Garros next year.

“Next year I am going to go to Paris. I’m announcing that now, I’m going to the French Open,” Kyrgios told tennis reporter and host Blair Henley.
“I haven’t played that in four years so I’ll be back next year. My girlfriend just wants to see Paris. I mean, I’ll play the French Open as well.”

Kyrgios added how he would have considered playing at the Roland Garros this year but then he felt that time back in Australia is crucial for both of them. He highlights how the following grass court season will be long hence they need to spend some time back at home.

“We already decided to go home and have that time. We’re just working towards that. Time at home’s crucial because the next trip is for three months and the time at home is so valuable,” Kyrgios continued.

“Especially being from Australia, you get homesick very quickly and we’re both very family-orientated, so we have to make sure that season remains tight.”

Kyrgios had a decent outing at the Miami Open as he bowed out of the Men’s Singles after losing to Jannik Sinner in the round of 16. The match grabbed all the headlines as the 26-year-old got into a severe altercation with the match umpire and called him ’embarrassing’ and ‘horrendous’. He was slapped a huge fine for unsportsmanlike conduct and racket abuse.

The 26-year-old Australian also made it to the semifinals of the Men’s Doubles in Miami along with Thanasi Kokkinakis. There they lost to John Isner and Hubert Hurkacz, who went on to become the Miami Open Men’s Doubles champions.
