Novak Djokovic’s dad WARNS Border Police at Melbourne airport
Novak Djokovic was handed a medical exemption to participate in the Australian Open 2022. However, after reaching the Melbourne airport Djokovic needed to go through a tedious procedure of presenting his medical exemption to the border police stationed at the airport.
Djokovic’s documents had a huge visa mix-up, due to which the investigation process got extended. After which Djokovic was isolated in a room with no contact with the outside world. His room is being guarded by two officers and his phone has been taken away from him.
Novak Djokovic’s father Srđan Đoković has always been outspoken about his opinions. He is obviously angry with the situation in Melbourne and he voiced his opinions in an interview.
He said, “I have no idea what’s going on, they’re holding my son captive for five hours. This is a fight for the libertarian world, this is not just a fight for Novak, but a fight for the whole world! If they don’t let him go in 1/2 an hour, we will gather on the street, this is a fight for everyone.”
Angry with the whole situation Srđan Đoković warned the authorities at the Melbourne airport that if they won’t let go of his son in the next half an hour we will gather on the streets. He also said that is not just Djokovic’s fight but a fight for the whole world.
The seriousness of these warnings isn’t clear. But with the passage of time, it might be that the world No.1 isn’t allowed to participate in the Australian Open 2022.
