Novak Djokovic and Jelena Djokovic
Novak Djokovic is chasing a historic title at the US Open 2021 and it is not a secret.. The World No. 1 is looking to become the only man apart from Rod Laver to win all the Slams in a calendar year and with 3 Slams already ticked, the Serbian is well on his way for the title in New York.
Novak is making his 14th consecutive 4th round trip at the US Open and has returned well on the tour after a small break post the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where he lost in the Bronze medal match in Men’s Singles. Novak was playing at the Olympics with a shoulder injury and decided to rest and did not play in any tournament in the US Open leg and came directly for the Slam.
In his 3 matches so far, he has dropped just 2 sets and is chasing the historic calendar slam with all cylinders burning. Speaking after his 3rd win over Kei Nishikori which was also his 17th straight-win over the Japanese, a personal record for Novak, the top-seed talked about his wife, Jelena, who was seen in the stands sporting a special T-shirt while cheering for her husband.
“It’s a T-shirt that says something about wolf. She runs with the wolf. It can be very stressful to run with the wolf. I know she doesn’t enjoy it at all times, it’s kind of living on the edge with the wolf. But I love her and she’s my great support,” said Novak explaining Jelena’s T-shirt that had Novak’s face printed on a wolf.
Novak Djokovic to play Jenson Brooksby in the Round of 16

In the Round of 16, Novak will play wildcard entrant and a surprise element, 20-year old American Jenson Brooksby who has impressed a whole lot of people with his game in the 3 rounds he has contested so far.
Brooksby defeated Sweden’s Mikael Ymer in 4-sets and then played two of the thrilling matches of the week so far. In the 2nd round, up against compatriot Taylor Fritz, Brooksby emerged victorious in 4-sets after a 4 hour 6 minute battle and followed it up with a 3 hours 50 minutes clash with in-form Russian Aslan Karatsev who took Jenson all the way to 5th set but the American proved to be too good.
How Novak deals with Jenson, we’ll see it in time, but the clash already looks like one of the match to look out for.
