According to rumours, after parting ways with Marian Vajda earlier this month, world No. 1 Novak Djokovic could follow Serena Williams as a client of Patrick Mouratoglou by choosing the Frenchman as his new coach.

The 20-time Grand Slam winner is looking for a new coach after deciding to discontinue his long relationship with Vajda, with whom he has worked for most of his professional career. Vajda, who took a step back in 2019 when Goran Ivanisevic joined Djokovic’s coaching staff, was in charge of helping the 34-year-old win each of his 20 Grand Slam titles during his career. He said earlier this month that he was looking forward to a new challenge with a new player and that he didn’t agree with Djokovic’s decision to compete in last year’s Olympic Games before losing in straight sets in the US Open final.

Djokovic appears to be on the verge of replacing Vajda with one of the sport’s most well-known coaches as he pursues a record-tying 21st major victory in the coming months. According to rumours in Serbia, Patrick Mouratoglou has emerged as a legitimate contender for the post and might be set to add Djokovic to his client list, which already includes Williams and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Over the course of his 23-year career, he has also worked with a number of high-profile players, including Coco Gauff, Grigor Dimitrov, and Jeremy Chardy.

Novak Djokovic has announced that he will begin his clay season at the 2022 Monte Carlo Masters on his website. After withdrawing from the Masters 1000 events in Indian Wells and Miami, the Serb announced his participation in the tournament. Despite being unable to go to the United States due to a lack of vaccination against COVID-19, Djokovic was in the Indian Wells Masters draw until the very last minute. He later announced on Twitter that he will not be doing the Sunshine Double in the United States.

However, the Serb is now able to play the Monte Carlo Masters and defend his championship at Roland Garros after French authorities declared that they will relax their ban on COVID-19 vaccine passes for entry into the country.
