Novak Djokovic‘s getting detained at the Melbourne airport and then put in isolation without his belongings with him due to his visa being cancelled by the Australian government has led to massive outrage in the tennis world. While his fans and many others have not liked the way the World No. 1 was treated, many Australians are happy that the government was bold enough to refuse an unvaccinated person to enter the country.
Djokovic continues to remain in quarantine while protests led by his father and other fans of him continue criticising the government for the poor manner in which the Djokovic situation was dealt with as he had already been handed an exemption from the medical committee that allowed him to enter the country despite being unvaccinated.
While the ministers continue to argue that the visa remains a decision taken by the federal government and no medical committee can intervene in that, the ‘NoleFam‘ continues their protests against the government showing support to the 20-time Grand Slam champion who remains locked in a room in isolation.
Coming to Djokovic’s aid is former World No. 1 and 8-time Grand Slam champion Jimmy Connors who bashed the Australian Open for being disloyal to their 9-time champion and tagging their official Twitter handle, he reminded them that the Serbian has remained loyal to the Slam and it is now their time to support him.
