Jelena Ostapenko vs Daria Kasatkina : Preview

Jelena Ostapenko moves into her 2nd quarter-final of the season as she moves past 2021 Birmingham Classic winner Ons Jabeur. Jelena came back from a set down to take the match 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 in what was an highly exciting clash. Jelena was knocked out in the 2nd round at the Birmingham Classic and will look to make the most of this week before the Wimbledon 2021 begins.
Jelena had reached the semi-finals of the 2018 Wimbledon and was one of the front runner for the title in 2019 Wimbledon, but a shocking first round defeat saw her knocked out early. With the 2021 tournament approaching fast, she will be looking to reach her best to challenge for the Grand Slam.
Daria Kasatkina reaches her 4th quarter-final of the season as she defeats Iga Swiatek in 3-sets to win the tie 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 in a fantastic turnaround against the Polish teenager who is often credited to wrap up the games quickly and dish out bagels in the process. However, Daria did give a taste of her own medicine to Swiatek in their clash yesterday.
Daria has had a wonderful record in quarter-finals this season, winning all 3 of her previous last-8 encounters and reaching to the finals. She has lost only 1 finals among the 3 she has contested in this season winning two titles in the process. Daria won the 2021 Phillip Island Trophy and later won the title at the 2021 St. Petersburg Open in front of her home crowd for her 2nd title of the season.
Jelena Ostapenko vs Daria Kasatkina : Head to Head

This will be the 5th meeting between the duo, with both having won 2 matches each. This will be their 2nd Grass meeting with Ostapenko winning the previous one. The head-to-head tie is currently levelled at 2-2.
Jelena Ostapenko vs Daria Kasatkina : Prediction

Jelena gets into the tie with a career Grass record of 33-16 and an overall season record of 16-11. She’s been a good player on Grass previously and will be fancying her chances this week for the title. Daria will take the court with a career Grass record of 16-9 and an overall season record of 26-10 after having had some good wins on both outdoor and indoor hardcourts.
Both the players are coming in with good wins in the previous rounds and the match has the potential to swing either ways. However, looking at their current form and overall season form, Daria gets the edge to advance into her 4th semi-final maintaining a 100% win record in quarter-final clashes this season.
Prediction: Daria Kasatkina to win in three-sets.
