Jelena Ostapenko has been in decent form since the last two weeks. She made it to the Round of 16 of the Birmingham classic and has beaten some big names this week in Eastbourne. She got the better of French Open runner-up Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the opening round and then beat Birmingham champion Ons Jabeur in the second round. She has dropped only one set this week, in the quarterfinal against in form Daria Kasatkina. She won in three sets 1-6,7-5,6-2 to make it to the last 4.

As for her opponent, Elena Rybakina, she continues her good form. She had reached the quarterfinal of the French open and then made it to the Round of 16 at Berlin before losing to Garbine Muguruza in straight sets. In Eastbourne, she upset second seed Elina Svitolina in the Round of 16 in straight sets before winning a marathon quarterfinal encounter against Anastasija Sevastova 2-6,7-6(7),7-6(5).
