‘Nick Kyrgios has the talent to beat anybody, but he needs to be more consistent’: Pat Cash

Nick Kyrgios and Pat Cash
Nick Kyrgios has arguably been one of the most talented players on the ATP tour, ever since he shot to fame by upsetting Rafael Nadal at the Wimbledon Championships in 2014.
In fact, the Australian is one of few guys from the next generation to have beaten the big-three on a consistent basis, across surfaces. However, due to his temperamental issues, he has made headlines for wrong reasons, which has directly affected his results on the circuit.
Speaking about the Australian’s talent, former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash spoke to The Age about how Kyrgios needs to take care of himself to entertain tennis fans on the court.
“Nick, we all know his talent. He is a super talented player and he has got all the shots and the ability, and he can move and he can do just about everything. For him he’s got to enjoy his tennis and he said, the bubble life isn’t really for him and I can understand that. Absolutely he’s got to look after his own well-being, to make sure that he’s happy and enjoying himself, because if he is tired and stressed, we all know what can happen.”

“He can lose his temper and rackets go smashing, and umpires chairs and everything else for that matter. So it’s good to see him out there and enjoying himself,” the older Aussie stated.
The 26-year-old was recently seen at Wimbledon, where he retired in the third round match against Felix Auger-Aliassime. In fact, Kyrgios has only played nine matches for the year and has even dropped to No. 58 in the world. He is also not going to feature in the upcoming Tokyo games.
Cash believes Kyrgios needs to more consistent on the ATP tour

Cash further added, although he believes Kyrgios has the ability to beat any top player, his commitment towards the sport will need to get better going ahead.
“The flip side of that is, he has got to get himself 100% fit and you got to do that by match play and working hard. That means being on the road, working hard for months and months and year, not just a few weeks. It will be very hard for him to be consistent, even though he has the ability to beat anybody in the world,” Cash concluded.
