Rafael Nadal
20-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal who called time on his 2021 tennis season with a foot injury, recently took part in a golf Mid-Amateur tournament in the Balearic Islands of Spain.
The Spaniard who has often spoken about his love for golf has been playing the sport for many years now. Nadal finished the recently concluded Mid-Amateur tournament at the sixth position.
As many tennis fans would be aware, the former World No.1 tennis player is also a capable golfer with a handicap of 0.3, while he took part in the tournament, which included 23 professionals and 37 amateurs. Not too long ago, the King of Clay even finished fourth at the 2020 Balearic Golf Championships, collecting 72 points in two days.
Nadal ATP tour return in 2022

A few days ago, much to the shock of the tennis fraternity, Nadal announced that he will wind up his 2021 season with a nagging foot injury. The injury came to light after the 2021 French Open, where the 13-time winner lost in the semis to World No.1 Novak Djokovic.
Thereafter, the 35-year-old even missed Wimbledon Championships and the Tokyo Olympics. Although Nadal made his return to the tour at the Citi Open in Washington, he was ousted in the second round by South Africa’s Lloyd Harris. Later, the injury forced the Spaniard to withdraw from the Toronto, Cincinnati Masters and the US Open.
Expressing his gratitude to the fans, Nadal even thanked his fans for all the support and promised to bounce back in 2022. “The injury is nothing new. It is the same injury that I have had since 2005. The only thing you can be sure of is I am going to fight every single day to make that happen.”
Nadal won two titles in 2021- Barcelona and Rome. For the year, he won 24 matches and lost five. Currently, his ranking has also dropped to No.5. That said, given Nadal’s history of hitting back from injury and setbacks, it would be a folly to write off the legend.
