“Not as a champion or anything else” Rafael Nadal reveals how he would like to be remembered

Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal is one of the best tennis players in the history of the sport. He is a part of the Big 3- the most dominant and influential male tennis players in the 21st century that each hold a record 20 Grand Slam titles. He has been the no.1 player for 209 weeks and has 88 ATP singles titles (4th highest in the world). His 81 win streak on clay courts is the longest streak by any player on any surface.

But, despite all his achievements and the financial successes that have come with it, what makes Rafa the most loved tennis player is how humble and helpful he is. He runs the Rafa Nadal Foundation for helping underprivileged children receive proper education and opportunities in sports and athletics.

Rafael Nadal also helps a lot in disasters that not only matter to him, but to the world. His foundation has also been supporting young people affected by the covid pandemic. He is known to be a very sportsman not only in talent but also in sportsmanship.

Rafael Nadal on being a good person

“I always say that I would like to be remembered as a good person, more than a champion or anything else. Because the victories are moments of happiness and euphoria, but all that is temporary. At the end of the day it’s about who you are and how you behave,” said Nadal about being a global celebrity and tennis star. It truly humbles people and makes them a fan of Rafa when they see what he has been giving back to the community through his efforts.

According to Nadal, “People sometimes exaggerate this business of humility. It’s a question simply of knowing who you are, where you are, and that the world will continue exactly as it is without you.”, which is very surprising coming from a man who in layman terms has supposedly achieved everything. He focuses and reminds us of the importance of being helpful and being centralized to our duties.
