Russian Andrey Rublev has been one of the most consistent player on tour since the last season. He has consistently risen through the ranks and is currently on a carrer high ranking of No.5. After losing in the Round of 16 at Wimbledon, Rublev has had a decent North American swing.

He reached the final of the Cincinnati Masters where he beat the likes of Marin Cilic, Gael Monfils and top seed Daniil Medvedev before losing to Alexander Zverev. He bowed out of the third round of the US Open two weeks later.

As for his opponent, Diego Schwartzman, he hasn’t been in the best of form off late. After losing in the third round at Wimbledon, he bowed out of the Round of 16 at both Toronto and Cincinnati Masters. He again bowed out of the Round of 16 at the US Open to qualifier Botic van de Zandschulp. Latest, the Argentine lost to an unranked junior player in Argentina’s Davis Cup tie last week.
