Serena Williams and Olympia enjoy some quality ‘mother-daughter’ bonding time at UTS 4

Serena Williams has been a part of UTS since its inception last year, in spirit, due to the fact that it’s been organized by her coach Patrick Mouratoglou. The other partner is Alexei Popyrin the father of Tennis player Alex Popyrin

UTS or Ultimate Tennis Showdown was conducted when the tour was stopped due to Covid. It doesn’t aim to compete with ATP or WTA; rather it’s a fun contest between tennis players, players across four quarters, and each quarter is 8 mins long. Players are allowed to express whatever they are feeling, all kinds of emotions, as long as they are not hurting anyone. We have already had three editions of it in the last year and this is the fourth edition hence called UTS 4

Serena Williams may be a ferocious tigress on court but off the court when with her daughter Olympia Ohanian she is nothing short of a cuddly teddy bear. Recently she was seen spending time with her daughter Olympia at the Mouratoglou Academy, in the South of France. The Mouratoglou Academy, is playing host to the fourth edition of the UTS.

Olympia, who is mostly seen in public with dad Alexis seemed to enjoy the moment as any daughter would. Olympia was born to Alexis and Serena in 2017, and is four years old at the moment. Before this event, Serena was also seen spending time attending the Monaco Grand Prix. She is of course a big fan of the sport and close friends with Lewis Hamilton.

The French test beckoning for Serena Williams

If you go by the number of Grand Slams Serena has won, 23 in total, you will find that she has the least French open titles. Serena has won seven Australian Open titles, seven Wimbledon titles, six US Open titles, and only three French opens. Serena prefers to play on fast surfaces and that has been the case in the last few years where she has slowed down, especially after the birth of her daughter in 2017.

Serena was the queen, the dominant lioness last won the French Open crown in 2015. But with her old competitors like Maria Sharapova, Justin Henin, Kim Clijsters all gone and new players like Iga Swiatek, Ash Barty, and Aryna Sabalenka having taken their place, it looks increasingly difficult for Serena Williams to win not just the French Open but any Grand Slam title for that matter.
