Simona Halep withdrew from the French Open 2021, owing to a calf tear she suffered at the Italian Open. The Romanian suffered a big blow, as she was one of the favorites to claim the title in Paris, as she had lifted the French Open title in 2018.

Simona Halep has announced that she would make her return from injury in the first edition of the Bad Homburg Open, which commences from June 20. The tournament will be played on grass courts, and is classified as in the 250 category. This will be Halep’s only warm up tournament prior to Wimbledon 2021, which begins later this month.

Hi guys, I have some good news to share with you. I’m super excited to announce that I will be playing for the first edition in Bad Homburg and I’m looking forward to seeing all the fans in the stands. See you very soon,” said Halep.

Simona Halep has not been in her best form so far, as she is yet to win a title this season. Her best performance came at the Stuttgart Open, where she was defeated in the semifinals by Aryna Sabalenka. She will hope to regain her form during the grass court season.
