Italian youngster Jannik Sinner is projected as the next big thing in men’s tennis and rightly so, he’s justified the buzz around him time and again. He is the youngest player in the top 15 and could even enter the top 10 if he goes deep into the tournament. Post Wimbledon, Sinner won the Washington Open and reached the Round of 16 at Flushing Meadows. He then defended the Sofia Open title without dropping a set. In the second round at Indian Wells, Sinner smashed John Millman in straight sets 6-2,6-2.

As for John Isner, he has had a good run post Wimbledon. He made it to the semifinal of the Los Cabos Open and then went onto win the Atlanta Open. He also reached the semifinal of the Toronto Masters where he lost to eventual champion Daniil Medvedev. The big serving American got the better of Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka in the second round at Indian Wells to book a date with Sinner.

Jannik Sinner

There will be no clear favorite prior to the match. Sinner has been amazing all season but lost to Isner at Cincinnati a couple of months ago. It will all boil down to how well Sinner handles Isner’s serve. It will be a perfect opportunity for the Italian to avenge his loss at Cincinnati and come out the victor. Expect a tight match with Sinner edging past Isner.

Prediction: Sinner to win in three sets.
