Jannik Sinner comes into this match after comfortably beating Reilly Opelka in the first round. It has been a breakthrough season for the Italian sensation with multiple titles on the hard courts. Since the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics held this year, Sinner triumphed in Antwerp, Sofia and Washington.

In the process, the 20-year-old has also beaten quite a few marquee names on the tour. With 23 wins already on the hard surface this season, Sinner might well end up with another title this week in the Austrian capital.

Meanwhile, Novak comes into this round after beating Gianluca Mager in the previous round. Being a local guy, Novak got a wildcard entry into the tournament but has spent most of the season playing on the challenger circuit.

However, before losing in the first round of the Antwerp Open last week, the Austrian player did reach the quarters of Mouilleron Le and the finals of Orleans on the hard courts. For the year, the 28-year-old has won only one match on the hard surface as far as the ATP tour goes, and therefore, it is tough to see him progress past the in-form Italian in the next round.

Sinner will walk into this contest as the hot favourite. With current form and confidence behind his back, the Italian should be able to overpower the Austrian wildcard. On the other hand, Novak will do well to stay with the World No.11 on serve, but anything beyond that is tough to foresee.

Match Prediction: Jannik Sinner should win in two sets.
