Stefanos Tsitsipas greeted with sarcasm for “this” football-related idea

Stefanos Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas is currently resting and recovering from a wrist injury before the beginning of the 2022 season. However, the break from tennis seemingly hasn’t bothered the Greek, as he has recently turned philosophical on Twitter during the break period.

While his philosophical rants seemed to be fun in the beginning, even his fans are starting to get tired of this version of the superstar. Tsitsipas has been regularly tweeting out his mind since he withdrew from the ATP finals earlier this year owing to injury.

The 23-year-old, who won his first Masters 1000 title at Monte Carlo earlier this year after defeating Andrey Rublev in the final, was again on his Twitter spree on Monday.

Football is one of the many sports that the Greek superstar loves. Sharing a thought related to the sport, the 23-year-old tweeted on Monday that there should be a World Cup equivalent at club football level, where 4 of the best teams from each nation would participate. The competition would be limited to teams only from Europe.

To clarify, the FIFA football World Cup is a nation-based completion where top countries from around the world compete for the trophy. The closest Tennis equivalent to it is the Davis Cup.

However, Tsitsipas seemed to overlook the fact that his ideas have already been implemented in football for ages, as the Club World Cup and the UEFA Champions League more-or-less function in the same format talked about by Tsitsipas. While the Club World Cup includes the best club teams from all over the world, the Champions League includes the best clubs from Europe.

Fans React to Tsitsipas’ Tweet!

The Greek was heavily trolled in the comments of the post, with users pointing out his half-baked knowledge on the subject poking fun at the absurdity of his ideas. The fact that Tsitsipas is known to make such tweets regularly makes him a bigger target for the trolls.
