Elina Svitolina vs Alison Van Uytvanck: Preview
2019 semifinalist, Elina Svitolina will open her Wimbledon campaign against Alison Van Uytvanck of Belgium. The Ukrainian is one of the best players on tour but isn’t in the best of form lately. She bowed out of the third round of French Open to eventual champion Barbora Krejcikova and hasn’t found her groove in the tune up grass court events. She lost in the opening round at Berlin to Ekaterina Alexandrova and then bowed out of the Round of 16 to Elena Rybakina in straight sets.
Her opponent, Alison Van Uytvanck has been in amazing form lately. After bowing out of the opening round of French Open, she reached the quarterfinal of Nottingham Open, losing to top seed Johanna Konta. She then won the ITF Great Britain 01A event last week as the top seed.
Elina Svitolina vs Alison Van Uytvanck: Head-to-Head
This will be the second meeting between the duo. Svitolina leads the H2H 1-0. Their only meeting came at 2015 Indian Wells where Svitolina won in three sets.
Elina Svitolina vs Alison Van Uytvanck: Prediction
Svitolina will be the favorite to win the match on paper but it won’t be easy for her. Van Uytvanck is in amazing form and could be a very dangerous player on grass given her fast game. For Svitolina, her serve will be the key as she didn’t serve well at Eastbourne. Having said that, the Ukrainian has good experience of playing at the All England Club and should clear the opening hurdle.
Prediction: Svitolina to win in straight sets.
