Aryna Sabalenka vs. Elena Rybakina: Preview

Aryna Sabalenka
Aryna Sabalenka

Aryna Sabalenka is into her maiden Grand Slam final as she overcame surprise package Magda Linette in the semis. Sabalenka has shown exceptional form this season and is yet to lose a single match. Not only is she on a 10-match winning streak, but she is also yet to drop a single set so far this year.

Her rocket-handed forehand has thrived despite the comparatively slower Dunlop balls at the Australian Open this year. Undoubtedly, it will be her biggest strength in the finals as well. Guaranteed to raise back to World No. 2, the Belarusian would like to take the Major trophy as well into the Top 2.

Elena Rybakina is into her second Grand Slam finals. The reigning Wimbledon champion is eyeing her second Major title and first Down Under. She has been a giant slayer in Melbourne Park this year. She defeated last year’s runner-up Danielle Collins (third round), current World No. 1 Iga Swiatek (fourth round), and two-time Australian Open winner Victoria Azarenka (semi-finals) to earn her spot in the finals.

The Kazakh will enter the top 10 for the first time irrespective of the result. Been discarded on outside courts despite winning the Wimbledon, Rybakina has once again proved her worth and earned the respect of the Tour.

Sabalenka currently leads their head-to-head 3-0 and will be the perfect occasion for Rybakina to register her first win against Sabalenka.

Aryna Sabalenka vs. Elena Rybakina: Prediction

Elena Rybakina

Both the players are Obviously coming in with the great form. While Sabalenka is on a 20-0 set streak, Rybakina has dropped only one set in the past fortnight.
The players have their own weapons, Rybakina’s lightning serve and Sabalenka’s rocket forehand.

The tie however edges towards Rybakina for her better control and past experience of a Grand Slam. The most significant advantage Rybakina could take will be taking the first set as Sabalenka’s broken streak could be mentally challenging for the Belarusian handing the tie to Rybakina.

Prediction: Elena Rybakina to win in three sets.
