Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Philipp Kohlschreiber: Preview
Roland Garros runner up Tsitsipas comes into the clash after a nightmare Wimbledon campaign in which he lost to unseeded Frances Tiafoe in straight sets 4-6, 4-6, 3-6. He then crashed out to Filip Krajinovic in the German Open quarter final. Having been seeded Number 1, Stefanos was expected to win the title and atleast reach the final of the event.
German World number 117 Philipp Kohlschreiber faced a similar nightmare Wimbledon fate, bowing out in the first round, but in a better manner, and to Canadian world number 10 Denis Shapovalov in a 5 set thriller, 4-6, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, 4-6. He too, just like his opponent on Saturday Tsitsipas, fell victim to Filip Krajinovic in the German Open, this time in the Round of 16.
Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Philipp Kohlschreiber: Head to Head
The pair have locked horns thrice and on all the occasions, the Greek superstar has prevailed. The most recent meeting was at the Australian Open, where Stefanos was handed a walkover as his opponent was forced off injured.
Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Philipp Kohlschreiber: Prediction
On paper, Tsitsipas looks the clear favourite but like we saw at Hamburg and Wimbledon, Stefanos has not been at his best since reaching the Final of the Roland Garros, a match which he led 2 sets to 0 before losing in 5 sets to 20-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic. Philipp will be hoping to take encouragement from the fact that he was able to push world number 10 Shapovalov to the limit in the first round.
Prediction: Tsitsipas to win in 3 sets.
