With history on the line for both of them as Nadal is looking to become the first man to 21 Grand Slam titles while Medvedev is looking to become the first man to win successive majors after winning his first, a lot is at stake in the finals.

Medvedev was the first to draw blood in the finals having won the first set 6-2 in 42 minutes after some fantastic shot-making and long rallies between the two players. The second set has been more close than the first as both players continue their hard battle against one another for the ultimate glory down under.

With Nadal serving at 5-3 in the second set and Medvedev having a breakpoint, it was an important moment in the set that was disrupted by a fan. With the incident happening near Medvedev, security officials rushed to protect the Russian while the others went and caught hold of the invader and dragged him off the court among cheers from the crowd for the security officials.

The entire Novak Djokovic vaccination saga during the first fortnight of January before the Grand Slam began has highlighted the poor living conditions of the refugees in the government camps. With Djokovic spending half a week in the federal detention camp, his family members highlighted the inhuman living conditions in the centre.

While Djokovic lost his appeal and was deported from the country, it has certainly highlighted the shortcomings of the Australian government in their refugee handling situation. One can assume that the woman was trying to raise concerns over the same issue as well as the finals of the Grand Slam will certainly get global attention and could lead to some changes if the movement catches some fire.
