Jenson Brooksby is an American professional tennis player with a career-high ranking of world no. 33 achieved on 13 June 2022. He has been a huge name among the upcoming players who are hoping to take the charge of the next generation of tennis.
Brooksby was born on 26 October 2000 in Sacramento, California, US to parents Glen and Tania Brooksby. He has been playing tennis since the tender age of 4. On August 12, 2018, Brooksby defeated Brandon Nakashima to win the USTA Boys’ under-18 national championship. This victory earned him a wildcard to play at the US Open 2018 but he lost in the first round.

Jenson has been under the tutelage of coach Joseph Gilbert right from when he was 7 years old, and the credit for his excellent performance can also be given to him.
“He’s proven that he belongs out here for sure. I think that’s one thing both of us wanted to see. He’s proven he can make a career out of this and that he can play with anybody. I feel like he kind of showed that with Djokovic a bit and showed that with Felix and showed that with some top guys he has played.
“That belief and that confidence is just growing, which is great for me to see because it’s one of the hardest things to get. But it can easily be lost, too. It’s a day-in and day-out thing. You have to keep working hard,” said Gilbert in an interview regarding Brooksby.
It is clear that Gilbert trusts Brooksby as much as Brooksby believes in himself, which is really a positive mindset allowing more growth. Because Gilbert has been with Brooksby from such a young age, he can better understand his growth curve and therefore coach him better. Going into 2023, big things are expected out of Brooksby.
