15th seed Iga Swiatek has been one of the most consistent players on tour in recent times. At the age of 19, she is currently one of the best Clay court players on tour. On Clay since the 2020 French Open, she has just lost one match, to World No.1 Ash Barty last week in Madrid.
She is yet to drop a set this tournament. She won her first round match when her opponent, Alison Riske retired and defeated Madison Keys 7-5,6-1 in the second round.
Her opponent, doubles specialist Barbora Krejcikova is coming off a doubles victory last week at the Madrid Open. She has been constantly improving her singles game too which was evident in the second round at Rome.
Krejcikova defeated World No.5 Sofia Kenin convincingly in straight sets 6-1,6-4 to advance to the third round. In the first round, she got the better of Saisai Zheng in straight sets too.
