Alexander Zverev vs Tallon Griekspoor : Preview

World number six, Alexander Zverev was knocked out of the second round of the Halle Open 2021 by eventual champion Ugo Humbert. This season, the German has won two ATP championships, the Mexican Open and the Madrid Open, the latter of which is his fourth Masters victory. Zverev, 24, reached his first Grand Slam final at the US Open last year but lost in straight sets to Dominic Thiem. Zverev has 15 championships in total but has never won a trophy on grass, and his best performance at Wimbledon was a round of 16 defeat to Milos Raonic in 2017.

Tallon Griekspoor, 24, battled through some tough competition in the Wimbledon qualifications to enter his second Grand Slam main draw. The Dutchman is making his Wimbledon debut and is only a few spots away from matching his career-high ATP world ranking of 120th, which he achieved earlier this month. Griekspoor has won two Challenger championships this season, but his match against Alexander Zverev will be the biggest of his life. At the 2020 Australian Open, he lost his only other Grand Slam match to Taylor Fritz.

Alexander Zverev vs Tallon Griekspoor:  Prediction

Alexander Zverev
Alexander Zverev

Alexander Zverev, world number six, is known for his sluggish starts in Grand Slams, and the German number one nearly fell to Oscar Otte in the first round at Roland-Garros. The 24-year-journey old’s to the Madrid Masters championship, his second there, was nothing short of spectacular, and he is having a fantastic season overall. When Zverev plays, there is always the possibility of an upset, and Tallon Griekspoor is certainly skilled enough to produce one here. As a result, with this match potentially going to four or five sets, take the German to win outright over Griekspoor. Taking the Dutchman to win at least one set on his debut may be a fascinating one-time bet.
