‘Red One’ starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Chris Evans will hit cinema screens on November 15. Ahead of the release, The Rock compared his movie to the highly acclaimed Oppenheimer. Recalling his experience watching the Oscar-winning film in IMAX, the Jumanji star expressed confidence in ‘Red One’ having the same effects.

In contract to Oppenheimer, however, Red One has received poor reviews. As of writing, the movie has scored 37% on Rotten Tomatoes. With a budget of over $250 million, it is expected to earn only $30-$35 million on its opening day. As such, it seems that The Rock’s Christmas-themed release will not replicate or perhaps even touch the box office success of Oppenheimer.

Over the past few years, Johnson’s movies have underperformed critically and commercially. Similar to ‘Red One’, other movies like ‘Jungle Cruise’ and ‘Black Adam’ failed to deliver as projected. In fact, the latter wound up being a ‘box-office bomb’.

While his Hollywood career might not be in the best place right now, The Rock mesmerized his fans during his latest WWE run. For the first time since 2003, the former WWE Champion turned heel (villainous character).

This led to one of the greatest buildups to WrestleMania XL. The Rock teamed up with his cousin, Roman Reigns, to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in a tag team match. On the night after the show, The Final Boss promised that he would come back. Following his recent return at Bad Blood, the 52-year-old seemingly confirmed his status for WrestleMania 41.

Fans lambast The Rock for comparing ‘Red One’ with Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’

As expected, netizens online didn’t hesitate in mocking The Rock for his bizarre comparison. Some fans said that the former WWE Champion was “delusional” to believe his movie would be similar to ‘Oppenheimer’. Meanwhile, others aspired to have the same level of confidence as the Jumanji actor.

People were so bamboozled by this comment that one user claimed that it was the funniest thing he ever said. Another fan boldly claimed that none of The Rock’s movies deserve to be on an IMAX screen. Furthermore, a user asserted that people don’t appreciate seeing The Rock playing himself in almost every movie.

As for wrestling fans, they also chimed in on the discussion. Earlier in the year, rumors suggested that The Rock returned to WWE for the purpose of repairing his reputation following the Black Adam and DC fiasco. Therefore, the WWE Universe believed that ‘Red One’ flopping would lead to the future Hall of Famer coming back sooner than anticipated.
