The Rock returned to WWE on the latest episode of SmackDown. He announced the location for WrestleMania 42 and had a rather strange and ambitious interaction with Cody Rhodes. Fortunately for fans, this was not just a one-off appearance. WWE recently announced that The Final Boss will make an appearance at the Elimination Chamber PLE on March 1st.
Prior to his appearance on SmackDown, The Great One had promised to “f*ck up someone’s life.” Thus, fans were on the edge of their seats when he called Rhodes out to the ring. However, the interaction went much differently from what fans expected. The Samoan told fans that he had become great friends with The American Nightmare since WrestleMania XL. They drank tequila together, and even their moms had become friends.
The Great One appreciated the former AEW EVP for carrying the company as its champion. However, he reminded everyone that he was on the board of TKO and was the most powerful man in the company. Now, he didn’t just want Cody Rhodes to be the crowd’s champion but also his champion. He offered the WWE Undisputed Champion an opportunity to be on the same level as him so he could unlock more opportunities for him.

The People’s Champion reminded everyone how he wanted to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL. However, Rhodes did not let that happen; he slapped the High Chief and got away with it. That is why he was special. Thus, the Hollywood superstar made him this offer and gave him until March 1st at the Elimination Chamber to decide.
Before leaving, the 52-year-old pointed at the WWE Undisputed Title and said that the thing he wanted more than anything was that belt. Rhodes looked confused and asked him if all of this was about the title. The Samoan corrected him, saying that he didn’t want his championship but rather he wanted his soul.
Has The Rock turned heel once again?
The last time that The Rock was seen in WWE before this episode of SmackDown was on January 6th, during the inaugural episode of Raw on Netflix. However, he acted much differently from his Final Boss persona that fans got to see during the build-up to WrestleMania XL. He seemingly turned face, hyping up the partnership between WWE and the streaming giant, and even made reconciliations with Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns.

However, this was not the same Final Boss that fans got to witness on SmackDown. While announcing New Orleans as the official location for WrestleMania 42, he constantly interrupted the crowd as they were chanting his catchphrases. Furthermore, he did not let them sing along with him either.
When he was done singing his rendition of “When The Saints Go Marching In,” he turned on the crowd and called them STD-loving trailer-park trash. Furthermore, when an audience member interrupted him during his promo with Rhodes, he said that he would come down there and slap the syphilis out of their mouth. This perhaps indicates that he is about to go back to his Final Boss persona during the WrestleMania season.
