WrestleMania XL was the epitome of sports entertainment. The roof was blown off when stars like John Cena, The Rock, and even the Undertaker shared the ring at the same moment. WWE gave it their all to make this dream moment come true. However, according to the Deadman himself, WWE contacted him moments before the match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns.

On his Six Feet Under Podcast, The Phenom revealed that even until the morning of WrestleMania Night Two, WWE didn’t ask him to show up. Therefore, his appearance at the show was a last-minute decision by WWE. However, The Undertaker didn’t bother to make his iconic appearance at such short notice.

Furthermore, it was also rumored that the spot was originally planned for Stone Cold Steve Austin. However, the deal didn’t go through. It led to WWE pivoting from the Texas Rattlesnake to the Demon of the Death Valley. Besides, Taker hung up his boots in 2020 after a Boneyard match against AJ Styles. It was his first appearance in a match at WrestleMania since then.

He had an important spot at WrestleMania, which was an unexpected moment for the fans. Now, it is going to be interesting to see when the Deadman will show up next time in WWE after his electric appearance this year.

Speaking on the Six Feet Under Podcast, the Phenom stated that it was a fun turn of events for him. However, when he was rushing out of the building, what went through his head was that he had finally found closure in his career. He added that he had his last match was in front of empty seats. Therefore, making an appearance in front of a live audience was a huge thing for him.

Something happened this weekend, and I’ve been struggling with it since I retired. But this weekend gave me closure. It really did. It was fun, obviously, it was fun. I mean, doing this for as long as I have and being involved in that, and how important that storyline was and is, but when it was over, and I’m running out of the building, I’m like, I’m good now.
