Max Verstappen the 2021 Formula1 world champion has recently admitted that in his opinion there was no reason for him to get in touch with his biggest rival Lewis Hamilton over the winter break.
It has been stated in planetf1 that Max Verstappen during the winter break did not feel like getting in touch with Lewis as in his opinion the 2021 season was a roller coaster ride and people need to move on from that.
Lewis after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix of last season went into silent mode as he removed himself from social media and shied away from making any public appearances. In his defense, Lewis recently said that he removed himself from the eyes of the public because he needed to get away from the sport and process the season as a whole.
After taking a two-month sabbatical from Formula1, Lewis came back on social media just a few days before the reveal of the W13 for the 2022 Formula1 season. On his return, Lewis has put out a warning to all his competitors and is looking to be the best version of himself during the upcoming season.
Max Verstappen did not even try to contact Lewis Hamilton over the winter break
Max was recently asked if he tried to contact Hamilton over the break and the dutchman blatantly said “No, There is no reason to. We haven’t seen each other since just after the end of the race. It is fine. We are racers and we move on.”
Ever since Verstappen’s 2021 triumph, there have been people who have called his championship win a fluke but the dutchman does not care about such things and rather sees them as nothing more than outside noise.
“A championship is won over the season, right? Not because of the last lap.”
“Some people just look at that race because of the tension building up around it and think the outcome was wrong.”
“But if you look at the year, the title would normally have been decided way earlier. It is just that I was taken out twice and had some bad luck with tire blowouts.”
“It came down to the last race because of all that misfortune. And look at the stats. That usually gives you a picture of how the season went.”
“I can understand with how Abu Dhabi played out that he [Hamilton] was upset and not happy with it but, as I say, you have to look at the championship in general.“
“It was a crazy and epic season. I don’t care if people try to take the shine off it. It doesn’t matter. The losing side always will complain, but the winning side thinks about it differently.”
The 2022 season is just around the corner and it is going to be interesting to see what the duo has in store for the fans this time around.
