Alexander Zverev has produced his best Grand Slam result this year. The German reached the U.S Open 2020 final and also made it to the semi-final of the Australian Open. Most recently, the 23-year-old captured two consecutive titles in Cologne. After that, he’s continued to extend his winning streak of 12.

Zverev defeated World No.2 Rafael Nadal in straight sets in the semi-final of the Paris Masters yesterday. The youngster has maintained close to 100% on his first serve points won. With such stats, anyone would find it hard to believe that Alexander is in the midst of some serious controversy.

In his post-match interview, Zverev was asked if he had learned a new way to tackle off-court issues so as to not let anything affect his game.

Zverev responded confidently and stated that it was his job to keep himself happy. Further, he added, “You know, I feel like I’m doing quite a good job of not letting that happen. I’m still enjoying myself. As long as you still have a smile at the end of the day, I think that’s the most important in life.”

Many have been vocal about Zverev’s banishment from the sport. Any post with him in it has #IStandWithOlya in the comments. Sighting the majority’s vivid stand against him, the German said, “There is always going to be people that will want the best of you. And, there is always going to be people that try to put you down when you’re on top.”

After brushing off the backlash and essentially sweeping it aside quite nonchalantly, Zverev heads on to battle with Daniil Medvedev in the final today.
