India’s one of the finest limited-overs batsmen Rohit Sharma smashed the joint-fastest century in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) on this day in 2017. The Indian opener played a record-breaking knock of 118 runs against Sri Lanka at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.

Rohit Sharma scored his second T20I hundred in just 35 deliveries to level the record held by South African batsman David Miller. Interestingly, Rohit reached this milestone just two months after Miller scored the fastest T20I ton in October 2017. The Proteas’ ton came against Bangladesh to register a victory for his side in Potchefstroom.

Rohit Sharma’s swashbuckling inning came to an end after 43 balls in which he posted 118 runs for the hosts. His knock included 12 fours and ten massive sixes as well. Sri Lankan speedster Dushmantha Chameera claimed his wicket during the 13th over as Akila Dananjaya completed the catch.

Moreover, Rohit didn’t stop here as went on to smash two more 100s in the shortest format of the game. He currently also holds the record for scoring the most T20I hundreds (four) by any batsman in the world.

The visiting side bundled out for 172 inside 18 overs, ensuring an 88-run win for the Indians. The spin twin of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav claimed seven wickets of the opposition, despite leaking 104 runs in eight overs.
