On Thursday, October 22, the 4-2 Chicago Bears will host the 4-2 New England Patriots at Soldier Field. This will be their first meeting since November 2024.
After a humiliating loss to the Packers, the Bears bounced back on Sunday, beating the Falcons 31-23. Caleb Williams started his first game since Week 2 and delivered a great performance. Williams completed 30 of 36 passes for 305 yards and threw one touchdown. Wide receiver Luther Burden caught 8 passes for 95 yards, while tight end Colston Loveland caught 6 passes for 65 yards. The Bears defense forced multiple fumbles, including a return.
The Patriots are on a three-game winning streak, which includes wins over division rivals the Bills and the Jets. Against the Jets, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye threw 18 completions for 235 yards and 3 touchdowns. DeMario Douglas, rHunter Henry, and Romeo Doubs each caught one touchdown pass. The defense recorded three sacks and an interception.
The Thursday Night fixture at Soldier Field will be the second meeting between Maye and Williams in the NFL. During their rookie year, Maye defeated Williams 19-3. Both had negative records then, but a lot has changed since then. Maye played in the Super Bowl, and Williams helped the Bears win a division crown after a long drought.

Why can the New England Patriots win?
The Patriots play better football when Drake Maye reads the game well. The Patriots lost two of their first three games with Maye throwing 6 interceptions. He has 10 touchdowns and just one interception in the last three.
The biggest upside is the return of WR1 AJ Brown. Sure, he dropped more than one pass and muffed the onside kick, but that was bound to happen after being out for so long. Brown should get better as the season progresses. The Maye and Brown combination will be deadly.
The defense is doing its job. According to FOX Sports, the Patriots defense is No. 5 in scoring defense and No. 6 in total defense through six games.
Why can the Chicago Bears win?
Ben Johnson proved that he can win games with a backup and third-choice quarterback. But the Packers’ loss dealt Chicago a reality check, so they hurried Williams back to full fitness. In his first game back, Williams completed 83.3% of his passes. In fact, he leads the league with a 72.5% pass completion rate.
Roschon Johnson is expected to get an extended run with Kyle Monangai still on the sidelines. Veteran rusher D’Andre Swift had 16 carries against the Falcons and scored 2 touchdowns.
Burden has taken over as WR1 in his sophomore year. The former Missouri man leads the Bears with 31 receptions for 361 yards and one touchdown.
The defense has also stepped up when required. Per FOX Sports metrics, the Bears rank 7th in total defense (allowing 302.3 yards per game) during the 2026 NFL season.
