TJ Dillashaw vs Cory Sandhagen won’t be happening on May 8 – Why has TJ Dillashaw called off the fight?

TJ Dillashaw was highly anticipated to make a comeback to the octagon against Cory Sandhagen in a bantamweight bout at the UFC Fight Night event on 8th May. The fight has been called off as the former two-time UFC Bantamweight champion has ended injuring himself in training.

The fighter revealed today on Instagram and Twitter that he has been forced to pull off the fight on ay 8th due to a cut from training. TJ Dillashaw even posted a photo that revealed how bad the injury is. The former champion was set to make a return after he was forced to surrender his belt after testing positive for steroids.

TJ Dillashaw wrote on Twitter saying, “I’m sad to say that I have to be pulled from my fight on May 8th due to a cut received from a head butt while drilling. Rescheduling the fight as soon as possible.” Hopefully the fighter will recover soon.

This delay in fight due to the unfortunate injury of TJ Dillashaw might end up being a bad hit for Cory Sandhagen as he is coming off a very good momentum. The Sandman is coming off two straight knockout wins in his last two bouts against Frankie Edgar and Marlon Moraes. Cory Sandhagen is yet to come out publicly about his feelings after TJ’s news.

Meanwhile TJ Dillashaw last fought in the year 2019 as he lost against Henry Cejudo. He has a record of 17-4-0 in his career and is looking to get back to winning the belt after his temporary ban after testing positive for recombinant human erythropoietin (EPO).

The UFC have not confirmed the rescheduled date or any updates regarding the May 8th fight.
