“Tom Brady didn’t just leave to rest,” NFL analyst Chris Simms throws a different shade on QB’s extended hiatus from the Buccaneers

Tom Brady announced his return to the NFL about 40 days after initially retiring from the sport this offseason. This would make the 2022 NFL season, his 23rd personal season, but the quarterback has not yet turned up to train with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers despite the fact that the preseason games have already kicked off.

Although it is natural for a player like Tom Brady not to play these preseason encounters, his additional 10-day leave has raised many questions about what could be the possible reason for such a leave. The Buccaneers’ head coach, Todd Bowles claimed that Brady will return after their second preseason encounter and it was for personal reasons that he had not returned till now.

Leading NFL analyst, Chris Simms provided his personal thoughts on the matter and gave an insight on why the 45-year-old quarterback is yet to return to the fray. On the NBC Sports show Pro Football Talk, Chris Simms said that it is a bit weird especially because it is Tom Brady, who generally works all throughout the offseason.

Chris Simms said, “Yeah, it is weird. You don’t expect to see that with Tom Brady. I mean, he’s always working, whether it’s May, June, July, whatever. I have no gleam here. I have no, like, inside info or feel for a year I’ve had two people tell me it is a personal matter and that’s it.”

Chris Simms finished off by saying, “I got to think it’s something, you know, somewhat of a real big issue because it’s not just rest. Tom Brady, didn’t leave just to go to rest like oh, I’m in need of a few weeks off here in the middle of training camp. I find that highly unlikely. I got to think it is a personal matter.”
