“Could have just given me the $20 million!” Tom Brady jabs NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell over ‘Deflategate’ at the Netflix special event

Comedian Jeff Ross brought up the infamous deflategate which took place back in 2015 and roasted Tom Brady.

At this point, Tom Brady might as well just accept that he deflated those footballs. Wait! He might have given a big hint of his involvement.

When Brady signed up for ‘The Greatest Roast of All Time’ by Netflix, he must have realized that every other contestant would be out for blood. He may be the ‘GOAT’ of the NFL, but there are those who get irked by the sight of him.

After the show’s host Kevin Hart kicked things off by calling the entire room ‘too White,’ he handed the roasting job over to, surprise-surprise, a white comedian, Jeff Ross. That’s not exactly the point. It’s what Ross said that brought back memories from 2015.

I really wanted you to be the first GOAT to be roasted because you are an example to future generations that if you work hard, eat right, film other teams's practices, deflate the balls, and have the NFL make new rules for you, then you too can be the third famous guy in a [Dunkin Donuts] commercial.
Jeff Ross went on a rant

Brady was listening to everything—barring one joke, he kept his composure and laughed everything off. The entire auditorium was waiting anxiously to hear how Brady would pay them back when he walked onto the podium.

Without wasting any time, the 46-year-old gave a witty yet befitting reply to Ross’ roast. The irony is that instead of addressing Ross; he opted to take a dig at NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who wasn’t present at the event.

Remember Deflategate? The NFL spent $20 million and found that it was more probable than not that I was generally aware that someone may have deflated the footballs. You could have just given me the $20 million, and I would have just told you, 'I fuc**** did it'.

What was Tom Brady’s involvement in the Deflategate scandal?

During the 2015 AFC Championship game between the New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts, officials discovered that 5 out of the 11 footballs were undeflated. The official rule of the NFL is to gauge the air pressure inside the balls between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch (86 and 93 kPa).

Upon further investigation, the league determined that the five balls were under 11.0, which was less than 90% of the officially mandated minimum pressure.

Former NFL Senior Vice President of Officiating Dan Blandino revealed the referees do not log the presence of the balls before the start number during the break of a game. The Patriots, who led the game 17-7 at halftime, finished with a final score of 45-7.

Both Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady went through extensive scrutiny from the league. However, neither of them claimed they had played any part in the scandal.

A later report revealed eyewitnesses noticing an individual from the Patriots camp with the match balls during the break. He allegedly took them to the restroom for a moment and then returned it before the play resumed.

On January 23, the NFL hired Manhattan attorney Ted Wells, who took charge of the case. He created a 243-page document titled ‘The Wells Report.’ He concluded that it was ‘more probable than not’ that the individual, whom some suspect was the Patriots equipment guy, “deliberately circumvented the rules.”

The response even indicated that Tom Brady was aware of the balls being underinflated. On May 11, the league committee handed him a four-game ban for substantial and credible evidence. The Patriots had to pay a $1 million fine and forfeit their 2016 first-round NFL draft pick.
