Tommy DeVito finally got a chance to earn his place in the league last year, when the quarterback position in the New York Giants got plagued with injuries. He proved that when given an opportunity, he could surely be relied on and now with his roster spot at risk, the quarterback is doing everything in his power to make the Giants trust him for the future.

There’s no denying that the team is putting their faith in starting quarterback Daniel Jones, but if they ever wish for a quarterback to get trained to be the successor of Jones, DeVito is not a wrong choice. When Jones and Tyrod Taylor were benched due to their injuries, DeVito led the team to a 3-3 record in the six starts he got.

While discussing his uncertain future in New York, the second-year quarterback shared his honest feelings on the whole thing. He feels he proved to the franchise that he belongs in the NFL, however instead of giving him the opportunity for the backup role, they signed Drew Lock as Jones’ backup.

I’m very aware of how they operate in this organization. That’s up to them to make that decision, make that gamble. I’m going to continue to play. We’ll see how everything unfolds.

DeVito further discussed his helpless situation at the moment because it entirely depends upon the front office now. He said if they decided to cut him, he wouldn’t have any say in that.

Giants’ decision to let Saquon Barkley test free agency backfired hard

To an extent, the Giants’ second-year quarterback isn’t wrong in being worried about his position. The team didn’t hesitate much before letting their best player on the team try out the free agency market to ascertain his worth during the contract negotiation.

And as star running back Saquon Barkley tried the free agency, he didn’t have to wait long before signing a lucrative deal from the Giants’ divisional rival, the Philadelphia Eagles. As much as they hated the running back’s decision to join Philly, he didn’t have any other option.

At the time of Barkley’s contract negotiation, the Giants decided to prioritize Jones, who was coming off a serious injury from 2023. They insisted on paying the starting quarterback above everyone else. As for quarterback DeVito, if New York wants things in their way again, he wouldn’t get to see the football field wearing their jersey again.

If all goes well, any other team will recognize his talent and acquire him soon but the question is to see if the Giants are comfortable seeing DeVito in another jersey playing in the NFL.
