Toto Wolff reasons out why Mercedes will be Lewis Hamilton’s Last F1 Team

Ever since Lewis Hamilton signed just a 1-year extension with the Silver Arrows ahead of the 2021 season, many suspected what if the 7-time World Champion moves onto another team. However, Mercedes CEO Toto Wolff has come to state that Mercedes would be Lewis Hamilton’s last F1 team. Ever since Hamilton joined Mercedes in 2013 leaving McLaren, this pairing has been fruitful to dominate the hybrid era.
In what could be his final year with the Silver Arrows, the Knight may look to set a record by winning an eighth world championship. He will also aim to help Mercedes win another Constructor’s championship this year.
Toto Wolff on Lewis Hamilton
Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff recently said, “I think this will be his last team. There is no better place for him than at Mercedes and our wish is also that he continues with us.”
“The symbiosis between us is good and we have celebrated so many successes together that from today’s perspective everything speaks in favour of continuing to race together, ” Toto Wolff concluded.
The Mercedes driver’s future was up in the air. As since he equaled Schumacher’s record, many thought his goal was achieved. However, few weeks before the season began, it was announced that Hamilton would continue with the team, but only for a year.
Lewis Hamilton told Sky Sports, “Firstly, I’m kind of in a fortunate position where I’ve achieved most of the stuff I wanted to achieve up until this point, so there’s no real need necessarily to plan too far ahead in the future.”
“We’re living through an unusual period of time in life and I just wanted one year. Then we can talk about if we do more, and keep adding it [by] one if we have to,” Lewis Hamilton explained.
