Alex Pereira recently shocked the MMA community after sharing a picture with Tracy Cortez, drawing massive attention online. The picture showed the pair celebrating the New Year together and kissing, clearly confirming their dating status to fans. However, it now appears the couple has much more planned as they move forward together into 2026.

Since that post, Cortez has continued sharing pictures featuring Alex Pereira together, keeping fans engaged across social platforms online. In a recent viral video, the UFC fighter was seen asking Pereira about marriage, creating massive buzz among MMA fans. The light heavyweight champion responded with his iconic catchphrase ‘Chama’, seemingly agreeing to the proposal in playful fashion.

However, it remains unconfirmed officially, as neither Pereira nor Cortez has publicly announced any engagement details or statements yet. Apart from this, both of them were also seen training together ahead of the 2026 calendar year.

After they posted the picture, UFC featherweight Brian Ortega was bombarded with DMs as he previously dated Cortez. ‘T-City’ mentioned that he’s happy with his life and is currently focused on making a UFC comeback rather than talking about others.

Apart from Ortega, Paulo Costa also jumped into the hype and joked about not trusting women by giving the example of Tracy Cortez. A few years back, a selfie of him and Cortez had gone viral, but they confirmed nothing as the Brazilian middleweight already had a girlfriend at that time.

Alex Pereira was previously married before his UFC stardom, during his difficult early years in Brazil. Pereira married young, starting a family while struggling financially, balancing factory work, kickboxing training, and personal responsibilities. The identity of the champion’s first wife remains unknown.

The couple shared children together, and Pereira has repeatedly stated that fatherhood motivated his career turnaround and rise in combat sports. The marriage eventually ended in divorce, with Pereira later speaking openly about personal hardships shaping his disciplined mindset and relentless fighting mentality.

MMA fans know about his ex-girlfriend Merle Christine, who was with him during his early UFC run. However, that relationship catastrophically ended in early 2024, and Christine has largely stayed away from public attention following their separation. After Pereira’s loss to Magomed Ankalaev, online videos circulated reactions from Merle Christine.

‘Poatan’ also dated UFC strawweight star Polyana Viana after breaking up with Christine. However, that relationship also didn’t last long. Since then, the light heavyweight champion went on a break from dating anyone before announcing his relationship with Cortez as part of his New Year’s celebration.

Alex Pereira reacts to his son’s grappling matches

Alex Pereira has two sons, Alessandro (aged 17) and Lohan (aged 14), both already active within competitive grappling circuits. Both sons have begun structured training, openly stating intentions to follow their father’s footsteps into combat sports. Recently, Pereira’s sons competed in grappling matches at the Reality Fighting event.

The Reality Fighting card took place on January 3 in the United States, featuring grappling bouts in cages. Alessandro Pereira defeated Derik Pazmino by decision, while younger son, Lohan, beat Grayson Matton in victories during their respective matches. Pereira watched cageside with Glover Teixeira, celebrating emotionally, and then posted online saying he felt proud after both wins.

Both Alessandro and Lohan are already developing aggressive fighting styles similar to their father’s composed pressure. Inspired by Pereira’s journey, they have openly set long-term goals of competing in the UFC 400 event. The champion believes consistent development could eventually lead his son toward UFC championship success following his legacy.

Alex Pereira is currently taking a break from competition, focusing on recovery after sustaining an injury in his last fight. Despite the break, Pereira has publicly stated his availability for a potential historic fight card at the White House event.

The UFC light heavyweight champion has already called out Jon Jones, immediately igniting massive excitement across the MMA community. Fans believe this potential super fight could become one of the biggest spectacles in UFC history if officially booked. However, there is a chance that this won’t happen.
