Trey McBride agreed on a four-year $76 million contract extension with the Arizona Cardinals in the early April 2025. As a result, McBride became the highest-paid tight end in NFL history, overtaking 3x Super Bowl winner Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed that the Cardinals agreed to pay Trey McBride a guaranteed $43 million, with $19 million as average annual income. The contract was negotiated by McBride’s agents Mike Swenson, CJ LaBoy, Doug Hendrickson, and Wasserman NFL. Wasserman also represents Chiefs WR JuJu Smith-Schuster and Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith.
The Cardinals drafted Trey McBride out of Colorado State during the second round (55th overall pick) of the 2022 NFL Draft. McBride was the first tight end to be taken in the 2022 NFL class of players. A total of 19 tight ends were drafted in 2022 (joint most along with 2015).
