Key WWE figures, including its Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, have left no stone unturned to promote this Saturday’s Wrestlepalooza PLE. ‘The Game’ recently joined ESPN‘s First Take and hilariously snapped at Stephen A. Smith for ranking Bill Goldberg at #1 in his top 5 wrestlers list.
Levesque quipped that all Smith does for a profession is “pi*s people off.” ‘The Cerebral Assassin’ recited the rankings from the well-known NBA analyst, who placed The Road Warriors at #5, The Rock at #4, Hulk Hogan at #3, Ric Flair at #2, and Goldberg at #1.
While Levesque praised Goldberg for his legendary career and admitted he admired him, he noted that putting him at the top was classic Smith, knowing it would spark plenty of polarizing reactions. Smith laughed it off, and the entire exchange came across as lighthearted and playful.
“What he does for a profession is pi*s people off. I love Bill. He’s a great performer and had some big moments, but putting him at #1? Come on.

For those wondering if Triple H and Goldberg are still at daggers drawn, it might not be true. However, they didn’t see eye to eye back in the day. In fact, the WCW icon admitted in a 2024 interview with Tim Green that he wanted to rip The Game’s face off when he debuted in WWE in 2003.
It was so because Goldberg took offense to some of Levesque’s comments about him, which claimed ‘The Icon’ tanked WCW and wasn’t there for the company when it needed him the most.

At the time in 1999-2000, the Tulsa native was recovering at home from an injury he sustained while smashing the window of a limousine with his bare hands instead of using a weapon to do it. Over two decades removed from that incident, Goldberg managed to return to working terms with ‘The King of Kings’ as the latter offered ‘Da Man’ a WWE retirement match that he was long overdue for.
Triple H picks Roman Reigns to wrestle if he were still in his peak
Triple H has had one of the most illustrious in-ring careers in WWE. The former DX member could proudly boast of the fourteen world titles that he’s won. There’s nothing more he could’ve accomplished, even if he’d still been wrestling on a part-time basis. However, an unfortunate cardiac arrest event in late 2021 doomed any possibility of an in-ring return for him.

After making a complete recovery, ‘The Game’ formally announced his retirement at WrestleMania 38. The WWE CCO recently joined Good Morning America and was asked to pick one current wrestler he’d want to wrestle if he got back in the ring. At first, Paul Levesque joked that he would be wrestling Father Time. He then noted that no one wants to see him wrestle again.
Triple H was asked who he would like to wrestle if he got back into the ring:

“If I got back in at this point I’d be wrestling Father Time is what I’d be doing. Nobody, mostly me, wants to see me back in the ring.
I think in this moment right now, a current superstar, if I… pic.twitter.com/IPkP5FTdmK
But speaking hypothetically, if he could pull off what he was able to in his heyday, Levesque said he’d pick Roman Reigns to oppose him. The 56-year-old lauded Reigns as an incredible performer. ‘The Game’ mentioned that while ‘The Tribal Chief’ is currently filming movies, he is pretty much a WWE Superstar. Levesque and Reigns have shared the ring on the grandest stage of them all.
The two of them battled each other in the main event of WrestleMania 32 in a lackluster affair that ended with ‘The OTC’ ending The Cerebral Assassin’s WWE title reign. At the time, Reigns was a babyface shoved down the throats of the WWE Universe, and thus, he got booed by those packing the AT&T Stadium.
However, one could only imagine what an Attitude Era version of Triple H would’ve felt like against ‘The Tribal Chief’ that once ruled over WWE with an iron fist.
