When CM Punk touched down in Riyadh on Friday, he was the talk of the town, but in a bad way. The 46-year-old was booed by the locals for his infamous stance that he’d allegedly harbored for WWE’s strategic partnership with the Middle East nation. Punk even issued a heartfelt apology for a 2020-made post targeting The Miz in which he dumped on the Arab country.

Taking note of Punk’s change of heart, WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque praised his former on-screen rival for growing as a human being. The Game emphasized that a decade-old version of The Second City Saint wouldn’t have retracted his vitriolic standing on WWE’s link-up with Arabia. Levesque added that he was incredibly proud of Punk.

I was privileged to watch him grow as a human being, to step out here and apologize to the people of Saudi Arabia, to just cherish where he is at in life and his career

Triple H on CM Punk during Night of Champions post-show

The Chicago native who went overseas to battle John Cena, has returned empty-handed. The Best in the World succumbed to the never-ending scorn of Seth Rollins for Punk, which ultimately cost the latter the Undisputed WWE title match against Cena at Night of Champions.

The Visionary’s attempt to cash in his Money in the Bank contract unfolded in a complete mess. A couple of run-ins from Penta and Sami Zayn also happened to neutralize Bron Breakker and “Big” Bronson Reed. In the ring, Punk offered a handshake to Cena, which the latter accepted, but only to hoodwink The Second City Saint into a failed low blow attempt.

Just as Punk lifted Cena up on his shoulders for a GTS, Rollins clocked Punk’s skull with the MITB briefcase, followed up by a curb stomp. The Cenation Leader dumped The Visionary over the top rope and pinned an out-cold Punk to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Is CM Punk not willing to chase the world title post Night of Champions setback?

CM Punk gave John Cena a run for his money at Night of Champions. The world title could’ve changed hands if it wasn’t for Seth Rollins and company playing spoilsport. Despite ending up losing, The Voice of the Voiceless embraced the love and affection from the Riyadh crowd and was given a rapturous send-off to the back.

But it seems like the former AEW star is done chasing championship gold for the time being. Taking to Instagram Stories, Punk posted a snippet from 1992’s comic panel, Adventures of Superman, alluding that he might reignite his world title obsession someday again, but the time for it isn’t right now. So what could be Punk’s next move? He wouldn’t have to look any further than Seth Rollins.

A section of the WWE Universe has started to voice its displeasure over the company’s steadfastness to have them continue beefing. But there are no signs of Rollins and Punk going their separate ways, especially after what transpired in the dying minutes at Night of Champions. A multi-man tag team match with these two spearheading the proceedings seems to be the working plan for SummerSlam.

CM Punk joins Pittsburgh protest against UPMC

He’s not only straight edge but a social reformist too on his level. CM Punk has famously been one of the most vocal wrestling personalities when it comes to advocating for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. The Best in the World recently partook in a protest in Pittsburgh on Sunday.

He posted a story on Instagram in solidarity with the demonstrators disputing the scheduled cuts to gender-affirming care by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). Punk, not that long ago, was seen joining a No Kings protest against POTUS Donald Trump in Chicago.

The former WWE Champion is someone who wears his heart on his sleeve, which, to some, might come across as a loudmouth. However, Punk’s standing among his WWE peers has undergone a major overhaul ever since his return in 2023.
