Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone has been making the headlines lately for his recent tussle with the Nuggets "Front Office."

Not much time has passed since the Denver Nuggets were the NBA title holders and ruled the league. With their first NBA title in 2023, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray propelled the Nuggets to the widespread belief that they would become the next big thing in the NBA. However, things went downhill this past 2023-24 NBA season for the Nuggets and their head coach, Michael Malone.
The Nuggets were eliminated by the Minnesota Timberwolves in Round 2 of the NBA Playoffs. In addition, they also lost many star players during the 2024 NBA Free Agency. This has reportedly led to an unrest between Coach Malone and the Nuggets ‘Front Office.’ As per ESPN’s Zach Lowe, Malone and the Nuggets board do not see ‘eye-to-eye’ over certain decisions going into the 2024-25 NBA season.
There are rumblings. Rumblings! That the coaching staff and front office, or at least the head coach and the front office, aren't exactly seeing eye to eye in Denver. To a degree even unusual for the NBA.Zach Lowe said on Lowe Post
One of the reasons for this may be because the Nuggets allowed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to leave in free agency. Caldwell-Pope was an important role player for the team last season. He contributed to the strong defense and perimeter shooting (40.6 percent from three) around the core group of Aaron Gordon, Jokic, Michael Porter Jr., and Murray. It remains to be seen how this situation develops in the upcoming days.
Michael Malone is known for his ‘blunt nature’ around the industry
The Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone has been going through a lot lately. As per various reports, he seems to be in a tussle with the Nuggets board. However, Malone is known for his ‘blunt nature’ in and around the industry. A prime example of his bluntness came during this past NBA 2023-24 Playoffs. Malone was visibly upset with the performances of his players after going 0-2 down early in the series.
He lashed out at his players in the post-match press conference. Malone particularly went in on the body language of his players, calling it embarrassing.
The body language of our guys...you know it was not where I think it needs to be but yeah we just got beat up in our building! we got embarrassed in front of our fans.Michael Malone said
Eventually, the Denver Nuggets lost the series in Game 7 after playing dreadfully against the Minnesota Timberwolves. In Game 2, Jamal Murray was also observed hurling a heat pack onto the court out of annoyance. It’s also unclear how Malone’s team will do in the upcoming NBA season because he is under increased pressure to perform well with no support from the Nuggets board.
