Saudi Arabia’s impact on boxing has been profound and monumental in terms of growth. For a long time, boxing had become stagnant, but Saudi Arabia was able to host some of the biggest events in the history of the sport. They accomplished this through their vast resources. Recently, Oscar De La Hoya fired a subtle shot at Turki Alalshikh because of this, which prompted Alalshikh to expose their private messages on Instagram.

This happened when it was announced that Saudi Arabia would host its first event in Las Vegas. It marks a huge step since they are expanding their reach beyond their country. Furthermore, it also allows boxing fans from across the world to enjoy the events in their home country. While this is great for the sport, De La Hoya fired back at it and attempted to claim his territory.

The promoter did not mention Alalshikh’s name in the tweet, but it was clear who the message was directed to. Alalshikh responded to this by leaking a message Oscar De La Hoya sent him. As such, the message shows a contrast compared to the public message that the promoter sent via his tweets.

In the message, De La Hoya calls himself a humble human and a legend of boxing. Subsequently, he thanked Turki Alalshikh for bringing such a big event to Las Vegas.

Saudi Arabia’s Las Vegas fightcard

Alalshikh has created events like Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou. Furthermore, he even set up a huge historic fight card with both Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. Now they are taking it a step forward by doing their event overseas.

The event is on August 3, and the main event is Terence Crawford vs. Israil Madrimov. They will be fighting for the WBA and WBO interim World Super-Welterweight titles. In addition to this huge fight, the card also features several other boxing stars. As such, the co-main event will be Isaac Cruz defending his WBA Super-Lightweight title against Jose Valenzuela.

The card also features two of Joshua’s former opponents, Andy Ruiz and Jarrell Miller, who will be returning to the ring. Furthermore, the event is expected to be the first of many events that will be conducted overseas.
