It has not been the best of summers for Tyler Herro this year. Drafted by the Miami Heat as the 13th pick in the 2019 NBA draft, Herro made a name for himself very early in his career as he played a vital role off the bench when they reached the NBA Finals in 2020.

However, the Heat have been a shell of themselves since their Finals run in 2023. After missing the playoffs this year, major changes were expected in the summer. Unfortunately, Herro was included in a trade package for Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks.

But it looks like the team change isn’t the only big development in his life. He finds himself facing a bitter legal battle with his long-time ex-girlfriend, Katya Elise Henry. They started dating six years ago and share two children, a daughter born in 2021 and a son born in 2023.

But it looks like their split has turned ugly, as they are in a dispute over child support and custody of their two kids. After reports of their split went viral, Herro posted a photo with his two children on his Instagram story and even unfollowed Henry.

It has been an offseason of surprises for Tyler Herro. After failing to lead the Heat to the playoffs last season, Herro was one of the players traded to the Bucks in exchange for Antetokounmpo.

Following the move, he made headlines after getting involved in an altercation with his former teammate, Bam Adebayo. The whole incident saw a lot of reactions in the NBA world.

But now, outside of his professional life, Herro’s personal life has become a topic of discussion. Based on the latest reports and Herro’s social media activity, it is clear that his breakup with Henry was a bitter one.

Tyler Herro and his ex-girlfriend are in a legal battle over child support and custody

This is not the first time an NBA player has been involved in an ugly custody or child support battle with their ex-partners. Luka Doncic and his ex-girlfriend were caught up in a custody battle over their two daughters. The case went on for months till she withdrew the petition last month. Similarly, Anthony Edwards‘ offseason was riddled with child support battles as well.

The legal dispute between Tyler Herro and Henry over their two children started after their relationship of nearly seven years came to an end. Henry sued Herro for the custody of their two children.

According to TMZ, the former All-Star filed a petition for a parenting schedule and child support details. However, he took it down a few days later. Soon after his dismissal, Henry filed her own petition seeking primary custody and child support from him.

With both parties laying out their demands, the case is yet to reach a conclusion. It is an unfortunate ending to their long-term relationship, and such cases usually end up taking a toll on the children as well.

Katya Elise Henry wants the children to maintain a relationship with Tyler Herro

Tyler Herro is enjoying his time with his children at the moment after the news of his split came out. Henry wants primary custody, as she claimed she had been the primary caregiver and decision-maker for their kids.

However, she has stated that she wants the kids to maintain a relationship with their father. Henry even requested that the court implement temporary and permanent safeguards for them. She cited Herro’s “historical conduct” as the reason for it and did not share any further details out of respect for him. Herro’s attitude and conduct were questioned in the NBA in the past as well.

Her petition also highlighted their pay disparity. Herro is entering the final year of his four-year contract and is expected to make $33 million in the 2026-27 campaign. Hence, she is also seeking court-ordered financial support from the 26-year-old.

The two are now stuck in a tug-of-war over the custody of the two underage children. The case is expected to drag on for months. Meanwhile, Herro is set for new beginnings in his NBA career as he gets ready to don the Bucks jersey for the first time next season.
