Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua has remained one of boxing’s biggest unanswered matchups. The matchup is now closer than ever as Turki Alalshikh confirmed the fight for the fourth quarter of 2026, with Netflix set to stream it. However, Fury has now called out the major delays and politics surrounding the long-awaited clash.

The Fury-Joshua fight remains stalled, with negotiations continuing over where the heavyweight clash will take place. Joshua’s contract requires the bout to be held in the UK, while organizers favor New York. The venue dispute has delayed the announcement, despite both sides working toward the proposed November date.

Fury has remained silent since the latest developments, while negotiations have continued behind the scenes. Sela has received addenda from Eddie Hearn, including increased payment for Joshua due to American tax ramifications. Other issues involve travel, accreditation and media scheduling, further fueling Fury’s frustration.

All this talk of wanting the fight in England, we want this we want that, it’s only to get more money to go to America. It doesn’t look like they are going to sign the fight and it doesn’t look like it is going to happen all because Eddie Hearn and that (expletive) want more money. They have already had that much money off Turki [Alalshikh] over the last few years. Eddie and ‘AJ’, they have had boxing deals, they have had darts deals, they have had snooker deals, they have had everything.

Joshua has continued to push for his superfight with Fury to take place in the UK. Hearn has maintained that moving the bout to New York would conflict with Joshua’s existing contract. Joshua’s preference has therefore become a key issue as both sides continue working through the venue and financial complications.

Interestingly, both fighters have already completed their respective warm-up fights ahead of the proposed showdown. Fury faced Mariusz Wach at Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand, on July 24. The fight ended after Wach’s corner stopped him following the seventh round, giving Fury his second win of 2026.

Joshua also completed his warm-up fight against Kristian Prenga at the Jeddah Superdome in Saudi Arabia on July 25. Prenga dropped Joshua twice during the opening round, creating an early scare for the former heavyweight champion. Joshua recovered in the second round and stopped Prenga at 2:43.

Hearn’s push for increased payment also stems from Joshua’s December 2025 matchup against Jake Paul. The British star knocked out Paul in the sixth round, with reports putting his purse around $92 million. However, estimates suggested taxes could leave Joshua with roughly $47 million to $50 million after deductions.

Another major issue surrounding Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua is the promoter dispute involving Dana White, Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren. ‘The Gypsy King’ has also been caught in the middle as the parties continue negotiating the blockbuster. Turki Alalshikh has held meetings to resolve the promotional issues, but the fight remains unresolved.

Tyson Fury calls for Dana White to promote him ahead of potential superfight

Dana White has entered boxing with ambitions extending beyond promoting individual fights. Through Zuffa Boxing, he wants to build a UFC-style structure that changes how the sport operates. White has also targeted becoming boxing’s CEO while establishing a more centralized system for the sport.

However, the recent fiasco surrounding Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua has highlighted boxing’s politics. White recently addressed the situation as negotiations continued without a finalized agreement. The UFC CEO has grown frustrated with the prolonged process surrounding the heavyweight matchup.

Fury and White have maintained a strong relationship, with the former champion showing support for the UFC boss. Fury attended the UFC White House event and walked the same fighter entrance path. Amid the politics surrounding Joshua, the Morecambe native has no issue giving White an opportunity to make the fight happen.

White’s ongoing rivalry with Eddie Hearn adds another layer to the Fury-Joshua situation. Hearn’s Matchroom Talent Agency has already signed UFC stars Tom Aspinall and Ian Garry, creating a growing business rivalry. Dana White signing Tyson Fury to Zuffa Boxing could become their biggest battle yet, especially with Joshua involved.
