UEFA has announced their nominees for the UEFA men’s player of the year, the three players were vital for their teams in their respective leagues and champions league campaign as well. The nominees are as follows:
1. ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI (BAYERN MUNICH)
ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI had a phenomenal season this year. He has been the standout player for BAYERN MUNICH scoring 15 goals in just 10 champions league matches. He also assisted 4 times. The Polish striker has scored a total of 55 goals in all competitions last season making him the top scorer across all competitions last year.
Despite all his achievements Lewandowski was unlucky to not claim the BALON D’OR which was cancelled this year due to the Corona pandemic. He was not happy about the decision but now he is nominated for the UEFA men’s player of the year award and has a very strong chance to claim the prize.
2 . KEVIN DE BRUYNE (MANCHESTER CITY)
Kevin de bruyne has been the most influential player for Manchester City last season, he has contributed in nearly every game City played this season, he was vital in the Champions league campaign scoring 2 goals and 2 assists in 7 matches, he created the most amount of chances in the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE last season.
He’s been in a phenomenal form scoring 13 and assisting 20 times for City in the premier league equalling the record of THIERRY HENRY. It’s fair to say KEVIN DE BRUYNE deserved the nomination for the prize. Although, he might not be the favorite to win but he certainly proved why he is the best midfielder in the world this season.
3. MANUEL NEUER (BAYERN MUNICH)
MANUEL NEUER is the 3rd and last nominee shortlisted for the UEFA men’s player of the year. He’s been the best goalkeeper by a mile this season. His heroic saves in the finals against PSG was the big highlight of the champions league finals this year.
He captained BAYERN to a treble winning season and proving why he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Winning the golden glove in the Bundesliga with 15 clean sheets. He also had 5 clean sheets in the champions league including the UEFA champions league finals against PSG.
NEUER had been on the top of his game last season and showed us why he is one of the best in the game. He will face a strong competition by fellow teammate ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI and Belgian KEVIN DE BRUYNE for the prestigious award.
These are the 3 nominated players shortlisted by UEFA for the UEFA men’s player of the year award. ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI is the favorite to win the award at the moment followed by fellow teammate MANUEL NEUER and KEVIN DE BRUYNE.
