The main event of UFC 271 is here with the much-awaited title rematch of Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker.
UFC 271 takes place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The event is headlined by Israel Adesanya vs Robert Whittaker 2 which is one of the most anticipated rematches in the UFC. Whittaker is here to avenge his loss to Adesanya at UFC 243. Adesanya wants to continue his dominance in the middleweight division and etch his name in the history book as one of the greatest to ever do it.
Since his loss to Adesanya in 2019, Whittaker has built his way back to another title shot to reclaim his throne. Robert is on a three-fight winning streak beating three of the best in the division. Round 1 Both the fighters take the center looking to find their range. Whittaker with the first blood as he throws a low kick. Izzy looking sizing his opponent and a shot to the body. Izzy’s reach clearing playing to his advantange as Robert struggles to find a clean shot. Isreal drops Whittaker with a shot but nothing to follow. A good left hand from Rob. Round ends in Izzy’s favor.
A very close fight at UFC 271 main event
Round 2 A huge miss for Whittaker as he goes for the high kick. Robert looking to get in the exchange as he lands a couple left hands. A nice jab from Whittaker. Connection from both the fighters but nothing significant. A huge takedown for Robert. Israel back to his feet and a clinch against the fence. Successive left high kick from Izzy. Close round.
Round 3 Not a lot of drive from Rob in the third round. Looking to choose his punches. Great jab from Robert and a counter from Izzy. Robert goes for the takedown and easily defended by Adesaya. A takedown for Robert but Izzy finds a way up. Rob pushes Izzy to the fence attempting to control. Huge kick from Adesanya. Round ends and this one might just be Rob’s.
Round 4 A great left hand from Robert. Great low kick from Izzy that stumbles Whittaker. A takedown attempt from Whittaker and he gets the chin and Izzy defends well. Huge right hand from Whittaker. Another close round from both the fighters.
Round 5 Championship rounds and Whittaker still looking to find the perfect shot. A finish is must for Whittaker to win the belt. A jab from Whittaker but he does not follow with anything significant. Eye poke from Izzy causes a short stoppage. But fight back on and Whittaker goes for the level change and almost gets the takedown. Both the fighters in the clinch and crowd gets restless.
