The only possible explanation for Alexander Volkanovski escaping from that deep submission from Brian Ortega at UFC 266 is that he is a savage. The fight took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Alex and Brian pushed every single fan to the edge of their seat while watching this featherweight title fight. Volkanovski escaped from what possibly would’ve been a deadly submission from “T-City”.

A lot of experts and fans were lost for words after his escape but the champion himself gives his thoughts on what was going through his mind when he was almost passed out from the choke. “Straight from a damn movie!!” says Volkanovski about the moment Ortega put him in a choke and rightly so.

Volkanovski was nowhere close to giving up in that fight. The fighter says the only way Ortega was taking that belt away from him was by killing him inside the octagon. “At this exact moment I was thinking of my family, telling myself ‘this can’t be it, I refused to let this belt slip away from my fam.’ You need to kill me to take this belt away from me and mine!” wrote Volkanovski on the moment Ortega put him in a deep choke.

“The Great” and “T-city” are serious contenders for Fight of The Year and arguably the greatest title fight the world has seen. Volkanovski won the fight via unanimous decision but T-City surely earned a lot of respect from fans around the world after that performance. The featherweight champion has stated he doesn’t want to be inactive and will take on whoever is worthy of a title shot next. The fighter has also hinted at moving up a weight class and challenge for the title.
